Jr. Royalty

Junior Royalty candidates should complete the required form (opens a new tab). This form will include contact information, information about the child, the artistic entry, a photo, and the application. Complete candidate submissions must be submitted by Friday, September 12, 2025 no later than 11:59 p.m. to be eligible.

This portion of the application allows the candidates to share their creative side. We ask that the candidates submit any form of an art piece that they made that describes why they should be Jr. Royalty. This could be a written piece (essay, poem, song, etc.), video, drawing, painting, picture of a 3D sculpture that the candidate made, etc. In addition to completing the application, the artistic entry must be submitted by Friday, September 12, 2025 along with a photo of the candidate.

The Homecoming Junior Royalty Selection Committee shall be composed of the Homecoming Lead Planning Team and the 2025 Royalty Court.

The content submitted in the form should be completed by the child with as little assistance as possible from a parent or guardian. Entries will be judged by the Homecoming Junior Royalty Committee based on the judges’ assessment of merit, effort and representation of Golden Gopher spirit. The decision of the judges will be final. Chances of winning will depend on the number of entries and their merits.

Entries must be received by Friday, September 12, 2025. The committee will notify the winners by Friday, September 19th. Each winner should confirm their participation in the Homecoming Parade and half-time show of the Homecoming football game prior to the Homecoming Parade by Monday, September 29th.

Six winners will receive a Goldy crown and sash and will be featured as special guests in the University of Minnesota Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 10, 2025 (check-in at 6:00 p.m., parade starts at 6:30 p.m.). Additionally, all winners will receive three Gopher Football tickets for the game against Purdue on Saturday, October 11, 2025. 

Junior Royalty and one parent/guardian will have the opportunity to walk onto the field during halftime. All winners must be accompanied by their parents or guardians in the parade and at the football game. A parade vehicle will be provided for the winners and their guests. Winners will receive an email with information regarding participation in the Homecoming Parade following the conclusion of the contest.
